About the College

Deshabandhu Mahavidyalaya, an affiliate institution of Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol and a registered academy of the University Grants Commission imparts instructions on Honours and general degree courses in Science, Humanities and Commerce streams and professional degree courses in BBA & BCA.

Established in the year 1973, under the aegis of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Hindustan Cables Ltd. and a group of philanthropists, it traversed a terrain of hard times and had landed, with the blessings of the Govt. of West Bengal, the U.G.C., the CLW, the HCL, the people of the locality and many other well-wishers, to a plateau ultimately.

The college admits students in Honours Courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Bengali, English, Hindi, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Sanskrit, Accountancy and Geography and General Courses in Bengali, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Commerce and Computer Science.
