Philosophy

The department of Philosophy is one of those the college had commenced its journey with. Initially the department had affiliation to teach only Pass (General) Course. But from the academic session.2005-2006 the college, then an affiliate of the University of Burdwan, got the affiliation to teach honours Course in Philosophy. There are two full time teachers both Associate Professors who, at the Commencement of every academic session have their responsibility relating to the University syllabus assigned and carry out their duty in compliance of the academic norms set by the University. The department has firm belief that learning is in no way a one way process. So the teachers emphasize on the reciprocation of the students by involving them in interaction. Presently the college is an affiliate of the newly established Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol. The department has introduced CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) from 2016-2017 academic sessions in terms of the guidelines and academic norms stipulated by the Kazi Nazrul University. Teachers are leaving no stone unturned in implementing the CBCS system so that the students, the most important stake holders, could get optimum benefit. The teachers round the year get in the touch with the students on and off the class room to kindle interest in the uniqueness of Philosophy. Moreover in the wake of the second cycle Assessment and Accreditation, the department is trying its level best to contribute to implement the recommendations made the NAAC for the academic excellence of the institution.
